The East Mountain Quilters of Costa Rica
meet weekly Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2-5 p.m. in
our new home in the water building in the center of
Rancho Redondo de Goicoechea.
You are invited to visit us when you are in Costa Rica.  We
will welcome you with open arms, big smiles and lots of joy. And, yes, it
would be a good idea to call us first so we can be sure to have
bocas and
coffee enough for you.  Should you be in the Central Valley on a day other
than a scheduled meeting day, just let us know, and we will try to meet with
you at your convenience.
2008 EVENTS and DREAMS
Calendar
East Mountain Quilters of Costa Rica
The EMQCR group entered the
"Hoffman Challenge"
in 2007.
Much to our surprise and delight
"Costa Rica~~~Our Beloved Home"
was selected by the judges as an
outstanding entry in the group
category.  It is currently traveling
with other special quilts in the
Hoffman Challenge.

"Annie's Quilt"

was both a challenge and a joy for us.  Annie's
grandfather commissioned the quilt for her
Christmas gift by telling us, "She LOVES the Disney
princesses, Dora the Explorer and Strawberry
Shortcake."

Oookay.... Since we are in Central America and
somewhat removed from all things Disney how  do
we do this?  The creative way of course!  We
looked for illustrations of the characters that would
be just right for Annie's quilt, and then we set about
making them from the ground up.  We added
hearts, flowers, butterflies and some photos of
Annie that her granddad emailed us just for this
project. Just looking at those photos kept us going.
We were thrilled with our first attempt at making
characters and wish we could have seen Annie's
face when she opened her quilt Christmas
morning.
"ANNIE'S QUILT"
"WOMEN IN COFFEE"
was such a wonderful success for us.
We sold everything  we sent:  thirty small quilts (6"x 6" up to 11"x
11") and four more quilts (26"x 26") especially commissioned for
the event. We celebrated our success by going back to work
and getting ready for "Women In Coffee" in 2008.

ADOPT A QUILTER

"Adopt a Quilter" is Carolyn's way of helping us make the trip of a lifetime.
The
entire EMQCR group is setting its heart on attending the
Houston International Quilt Market and Festival
in October of this year.

We are working very hard to raise as much money as we can, and we need your help.  Please
see our "Adopt a Quilter" page, and if there is something there that you could do to help us
realize this dream, we would be so grateful to hear from you.
