1. "Las Canastas de la Primavera" was created in 2005. We have decided that it needed more warmth and have been adding more handwork and special decorative stitches to the quilt. It is Queen Size and is priced at $750.* 2. "COSTA RICA" is a quilt we made showcasing our three smaller sized quilts. Each quilter in the EMQCR group has at least one quilt in this lovely wall hanging. It measures 42"x43" and is priced at $450.* 3. and 4. "The Two Faces of Costa Rican Culture: The City and The Country / Las dos caras de la cultural costarricense: la ciudad y el campo" was our entry into the national quilt exhibition in 2006 at the CCCN. A mobile complete with bells, pottery shards, molas, stained glass and small wooden crafts, this eight-foot wonder is something to behold. Each of the fourteen individual quilts which make up the mobile carries a theme of culture: transportation, literature, art, drama, dance, comedy and music. The cloth used to cover the wooden pieces holding each quilt in place reflect Costa Rica's flora and fauna. This lovely piece of art is priced at $1,500.*

5. "Shirley, Goodness and Mercy" was the name of our quilt submitted in the "Grano de Oro" exhibition in 2007 which followed the special Hawaiian show earlier in the year. The "Grano de Oro" of Costa Rica is its coffee bean; hence, the theme for the show. EMQCR tied for second place as most popular quilt on opening night. Based on the 23rd Psalm the quilt invites the viewer to indulge in a little fantasy along with the truth of that psalm. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" gave rise to the thought of faithful animals, beasts of burden as well as household pets, who follow us throughout life and provide companionship along the journey. So, we named three older burros, "Shirley, Goodness and Mercy" to represent the dependable companions of our older coffee picker. She was our first doll to create, and she may be our last! The young burro near the top of the quilt just to the right and up a bit from the woman symbolize the newer generation of harvesters of coffee at the beginning of their adventures in this life. This quilt is 34"x42" and is priced at $360* The doll is not for sale.

"Costa Rica ~~~ Our Belovéd Home" our award-winning quilt from the 2007 HOFFMAN CHALLENGE (www.hoffmanchallenge.com) is currently on tour in the U.S.A. It is replete with miniature items such as coconuts, bananas, pineapples, quilts, clothes hanging on the lines, rafts and surfboards. To say we were thrilled to win recognition on our first big international contest is a grand understatement. I don't think it has "hit" us yet even though Kattia and Carolyn did see it again in Houston at the International Quilt Market and Festival in October last year. This is a major "WOW!" for us and a boost to keep us growing. It measures 39"x39" and is priced at $650*
